ABN AMRO in the United States

Following the break-up of ABN AMRO and the subsequent merger with Fortis, ABN AMRO is now rebuilding its international commercial network. In spring 2010 ABN AMRO re-opened an office for its clients in New York.

ABN AMRO has always been the largest international bank of the Netherlands and operating internationally has always been one of ABN AMRO’s strong suits. The bank is eager to rebuild part of its network again. Moreover, this is a move welcomed by many Dutch companies as they also stress the need for a large international Dutch bank.

Last year, international desks were opened in Germany, France, Belgium and the UK to service the Dutch client base. This year the focus is on hubs outside Europe. In the US a desk has been opened in January of 2011 and with offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, ABN AMRO’s presence in Asia is also secured.

In the United States ABN AMRO can provide lending, trade finance and FX and rates products to its client base. In addition, we can refer our clients to a partner bank that can provide domestic cash management services.

Besides the Dutch focus, ABN AMRO also operates in the Energy, Commodities and Transportation and Diamond and Jewelry sectors providing tailored financing solutions. ABN AMRO also provides securities financing and equity derivatives products. Furthermore, ABN AMRO has a leading position in the brokerage, custody and clearing business.
