About us
The American Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands (AmCham) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, voluntary organization of companies and individuals who invest in and trade between the United States of America and the Netherlands. The Netherlands is one of the most important destinations for US direct investment in Europe and a major hub of American professionals living and working abroad.
It's a Fact: American Businesses are Prospering in the Netherlands
Minority and majority owned American companies directly employ over 225,000 people and are the source of almost 5 percent of the country's GNP. On a historical-cost basis the total US direct investment position in the Netherlands in 2011 totaled over $595 billion. Total assets of US non-bank foreign affiliates in the Netherlands were estimated to total over $1.6 trillion in 2009. Over the past decade alone, US direct investment flows have totaled over $450 billion. American business has had good reason to come to the Netherlands in the past and the Chamber works to ensure they have good reason to stay in the future.
It's a Two-Way Street: Dutch Investment in the US
Many Dutch Chamber members are significant investors in the United States. Well over $240 billion of investment has flowed from the Netherlands to the United States - making the Netherlands the third largest foreign investor in the US. The common denominator shared by all our members is a belief in the importance of two-way trade and investment between the Netherlands and the United States as an essential basis for creating mutual economic welfare.
AmCham: Over 50 Years of Service in the Netherlands
Established in 1961 and now in its sixth decade of service to the US business community, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands seeks to further the development of commerce between the United States of America and the Netherlands. AmCham Netherlands encourages and facilitates the transaction of business between both countries and promotes the interests of its members in matters of trade and investment.
