Biography Sandy Lyons

Sandy Lyons (1956) is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Draka Holding NV, a publicly traded, global leader in the diversified manufacture of cable products with annual revenues of € 3 billion ($4.5 billion).

Prior to his current responsibilities, Sandy served as the CEO of Draka Comteq, a JV between Draka and Alcatel-Lucent. In addition, Sandy is the former President and CEO of both Siecor Corporation and of Corning Cable Systems.

Over the course of his career Sandy has held positions of responsibility in manufacturing, sales, marketing, strategic planning, business development, and operations. In addition, he is a co-founder of the Elite Technologies Group as well as of Omega One Communications, a JV with Corning, Inc.

Sandy graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. After his military service, he continued his education through the executive programs at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business and Harvard University, Harvard School of Business.

Highlights within industry: Chairman of the Board of Management, Draka Holding NV; Chairman of the Board of Management, Draka Comteq BV; Served on the Boards of Siecor Corporation, easyfurnish.com, Corning Cable Systems as well as the Boards of industry organizations including the International Cable Federation (ICF), Europacable, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies Association (NCEITA). Sandy has also been a member of both the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) for over 20 years.

Sandy, Catherine, and sons Connor, Greyson, and Benjamin, maintain a home in Hickory, NC as well as their current residence in Amsterdam.
