Advocacy and International Policy-making Activities

Since its inception, the Chamber has successfully addressed its resources to issues related to improving the investment and trading climate between the Netherlands and the US - striving for the optimum ingredients and environment to make business happen and increase economic welfare. By drawing on the experience of its Standing Committees - and its membership at large - the Chamber has been able to render a unique service to the American-Netherlands business community in giving guidance, in areas such as taxation, human resource management and legal issues, and in bringing the concerns of its members to the attention of appropriate bodies on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Chamber's focus is its role as the leading voice for foreign investors in the Netherlands. The competitive edge that the Netherlands has built in the past decade needs continuous honing and constant benchmarking to point to areas for improvement. Our current advocacy program is outlined in the Priority Points section of our website.

Social Events and Business-to-Business Networking

Besides making contact with potential customers, Chamber members frequently meet existing customers at our events – or find new networking opportunities they could not have discovered elsewhere.

Among the programs bringing people and businesses together are our regular luncheons, dinners, seminars and late afternoon briefings with prominent private and public sector guest speakers. Social events include the annual golf tournament, the annual gala dinner-dance and the end-of-the-year Christmas Cocktail.

Young Professionals

AmCham Young Professionals is a unique cross-company YP program for pro-active, high potential and highly motivated individuals with a minimum of approximately five years of working experience, in an age-range of about 25-35 years, in their (international) careers at member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands and similarly aligned organizations. Together, the AmCham and the Young Professionals group strive towards the reinforcement of a common cultural and economic heritage between the United States and the Netherlands.

New Business Development Opportunities

The common denominator shared by all our members is a belief in the importance of two-way trade and investment between the Netherlands and the United States as an essential basis for creating mutual economic welfare.

American and Chamber member companies employ over 1.3 million people in the Netherlands. American business has had good reason to come to the Netherlands in the past and the Chamber works to ensure they have good reason to stay in the future. In addition, many Dutch Chamber members are significant investors in the United States. The common denominator shared by all our members is a belief in the importance of two-way trade and investment between the Netherlands and the United States as an essential basis for creating mutual economic welfare.

Through its year-round programs and events, the Chamber provides an opportunity for its members to meet, exchange ideas and experiences, and make contacts which are essential to the development of new, mutually beneficial relationships.
