Invest in America / Economic Development Agencies
Invest in America (also called SelectUSA) is the federal body dealing with inward investment into the US (setting up a business in the US). It provides information on issues such as federal taxes and incentives. However, it mostly operates as a coordinating platform for various local economic development agencies. The development agencies operate on a state level and within states there are local agencies on county and city level. Economic development agencies assist foreign companies looking to set up a presence in the US by advising on locations, incentives, regulations, etc. Generally, these agencies are only based in the US.

The services the economic development agencies provide vary from general promotional activities to tailor made information on locally available incentives, site selection, etc. These services are useful for Dutch companies looking to invest in the US.

Royal Netherlands Embassy
As any diplomatic mission, the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C. engages in the field of political, consular, defence, cultural, and economic affairs. Aside from the Embassy itself, there are Consulate Generals in the US (in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Miami), as well as several Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO’s). An NBSO can be regarded as a local extension of the Embassy in Washington, D.C., and focuses on servicing business.
The Dutch diplomatic mission services Dutch companies looking to (increase) trade or investment into either the US or the Netherlands. Hereby the Embassy functions as a portal, either digitally or in person. Digitally by referring companies to websites or digital sources of information. In person by organising seminars, providing market information (please see EVD below), introductions, and engaging with representatives from government and business.
