Biography Chirfi Guindo

Chirfi Guindo (1965) is Managing Director at Merck, Sharp and Dome Netherlands, subsidiary of Merck & Co, USA.

Before starting a long carreer at MSD, Chirfi worked as a software engineer for CapGemini in Paris, France.  In 1990 he became an International Management Associate at the Merck Headquarters in New Jersey, USA.  He held positions in New York City and France before he became the Managing Director for South Africa in 1996.  Between 2000 and 2003, Chirfi was the Business Unit Director for MSD Netherlands.  He returned as a Managing Director to South Africa for another 3 years.  In 2006 Chirfi was appointed Managing Director at MSD Netherlands. 

Chirfi has 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (at MSD) in junior, middle and executive level positions. He held positions in Finance, Sales & Marketing and General Management in the following countries/regions: USA, France, Netherlands and Africa.

Besides his AmCham board membership, he also holds a position at the board of Nefarma.

In 1987 obtained his BSc/MSc in Engineering at the Ecole Centrale de Paris, France.  In 1990 he graduated from New York University (Stern Graduate School of Business), New York, USA with an MBA (Honors) in Finance/Economics.

Chirfi was born in Mali (West Africa).  He is fluent in French, English, Dutch, Songhai and Dioula.  He loves biking, running, music and travel and is married with 2 children.
