Biography Richard Spradling

Dr. Richard Spradling is the Superintendent of the American School of The Hague [ASH], a prestigious AP and IB school serving the international corporate and diplomatic community in the Netherlands.

Before coming to ASH, Rick was director of the American International School in Vienna, Austria, where he served as president of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) and on the board of the European Council of International Schools as well as the board of Webster University as he does now here in the Netherlands.

His overseas career led him to Zambia, Cameroon, Gabon and Tunisia, where he has been president of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) and the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS).

Dr. Spradling is a native of the USA, and received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina.

Rick and his wife Kathy have a son and a daughter currently living in the United States, who both have chosen to be teachers.
