Internationalization is one of the ambitions of the City of Rotterdam. The Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) has developed itself over the past few decades to be in the top 10 business schools of Europe. With more foreign students every year, the atmosphere has truly become international. However, there is a tendency for international students to leave Rotterdam once they have finished their studies. Many of them find work abroad, and those that stay in the Netherlands often move to Amsterdam and elsewhere to pursue their career in business. Therefore, the City of Rotterdam and the companies miss out on a significant talent pool.
The main reason for students not staying in Rotterdam is because in their perception, there are no jobs in Rotterdam. Either they think that companies are not looking for international students, or they are not aware that there are companies in Rotterdam looking for international students.
The video below is produced by RSM’s Study Association STAR on the above mentioned concern which is one of the focus points of the AmCham Rotterdam Chapter.
