The US Embassy in The Hague serves as the bilateral Mission between the Netherlands and the United States.

Its commercial service focuses on inbound flows and helps US companies export to and finding agents and distributors in the Netherlands. They counsel US companies on market opportunities, regulations and methods of doing business in the Netherlands. Finally, they organize trade events to promote the sale of US products and services. Therefore, the US Embassy offers no direct support to Dutch companies looking to trade or invest in the US.

The NFIA is a Dutch government agency tasked with attracting foreign investors to the Netherlands. Its services are elaborate and free of charge, for example extensive information on rules and regulations and attractiveness of the Netherlands, as well as introductions to government officials and business contacts. The NFIA is supported by local agencies (from a province or city). The NFIA is the starting point for a Non-Dutch company looking to invest in the Netherlands.

Government body servicing Dutch companies looking to trade, invest or do business in the US (outbound). The EVD provides wide ranging general information on the US economy, as well as general information on starting to do business in the US. For a modest remuneration of €500, the EVD provides market scans that assist with finding a business partner in the US, be it a distributor, agent, reseller or production partner. Furthermore the market scans outline the business opportunity for a certain product or service in the US, as well as the main events for the particular industry and potential business contacts. The market scans are provided in close cooperation with the Netherlands Embassy in the US.

Furthermore, up to 2011, the EVD arranged Collective Promotional Activities (CPA) missions, inbound and outbound trade delegations and collective trade expo’s (Holland Pavilions) in the US. This was done in close cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Netherlands Embassy and the overseas diplomatic postings in the US. Noteworthy is that the EVD only provided funds to external parties to organise the CPA missions on its behalf. Since 2012, funding for CPA missions has strongly diminished.

The EVD services mostly companies new to doing business in the US by providing general and useful information.

Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion
(NCH; Nederlands Centrum voor Handelsbevordering)
The NCH is a member organization and mainly active for Dutch companies looking to trade in a new foreign market. Apart from providing market information, NCH organises incoming and outgoing trade delegations, on behalf of (Dutch) third parties such as the EVD and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture, and Innovation.

Under the umbrella of NCH there is the NACTP (Netherlands American Council for Trade Promotion), which aims to be a platform for the Dutch company looking at the US. Currently, the organization is not very (pro)active. Members of NCH are automatically member of NACTP.

Since its founding in 1961-1962, the Council has been a preeminent, non-partisan institution devoted to promoting transatlantic cooperation and international security.
