Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands and Minister-President Geert Bourgeois of Flanders are currently on their first joint economic mission to Atlanta, Georgia. The Prime Ministers are accompanied by a delegation of Dutch and Flemish business representatives. This visit to Atlanta is the second joint economic mission of leaders of the Dutch and Flemish governments to the United States. In 2013, Prime Minister Rutte and then Minister-President Kris Peeters led a joint mission to Houston.

The joint economic mission has a focus on smart logistics, financial technology, and cybersecurity. Prime Minister Rutte and Minister-President Bourgeois will meet with Governor Nathan Deal, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Ambassador Andrew Young, President Dennis Lockhart of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and representatives from the business community, including Coca-Cola and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
