On March 31, 2019, United Airlines inaugurated its daily nonstop seasonal service between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and its hub at San Francisco International Airport. The flights will operate daily until October 26, 2019. United’s new route to San Francisco is the airline’s fifth nonstop service from the Netherlands, in addition to the existing year-round services from Amsterdam to New York/Newark, Chicago, Houston and Washington, D.C.

Marking this special occasion, customers, guests, United employees and crew joined Marcel Fuchs (United VP International Sales), Maaike van der Windt (Director of Aviation Marketing, Cargo and Passenger Experience at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol) and H.E. Pete Hoekstra (U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands) for a special gate celebration. A spectacular water cannon salute was given as United flight UA969 departed Amsterdam for its return flight to San Francisco.

On April 1, an AmCham delegation attended a dinner in honor of the inaugural flight. During the dinner, AmCham Vice President Jochum Haakma, awarded a certificate of appreciation to United VP Marcel Fuchs, as a sign of appreciation for the longstanding relationship between United Airlines and AmCham.
