AmCham Committed to Advancing Equality and Inclusion

Published: July 9, 2020

July 9, 2020 - In a statement prepared by the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, AmCham The Netherlands expresses its commitment to advancing Equality and Inclusion.

As an organization that encourages and facilitates the transaction of business between the U.S. and the Netherlands, supporting a diverse range of perspectives and cultures is critical to the success of our Chamber, our members, and the societies we operate in. For this reason, AmCham has maintained a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Committee for over 10 years, to help our members create inclusive cultures by raising awareness, sharing best practices and inspiring the conversation on D&I.

The Black Lives Matter protests in the past weeks following the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and the many other African Americans who lost their lives, have caused great debate not only in the public spaces and media outlets of the U.S. and around the world, but also in the boardrooms and workplaces of many of our member companies. The conversation is happening here and now. We acknowledge that structural discrimination and racism are a persistent challenge, and we realize that we have to continue on the path towards truly understanding and appreciating the uniqueness of each individual. Where we are, is not good enough yet.

As a forward-looking Chamber, we want to do what we can to support our members to navigate this challenge by continuing to organize events, roundtables and workshops and promoting dialogue on Diversity & Inclusion. AmCham also commits to actively seeking more diverse representation at board level.

We will continue to support our members through the exchange of knowledge and experience, and are dedicated to advancing awareness and understanding about all aspects of Diversity & Inclusion.
