Published: February 4, 2022

On February 4, AmCham’s Annual Legal Seminar was hosted at the offices of De Brauw in Amsterdam, due to COVID-19 in a hybrid setting. The Annual Legal Seminar is an initiative of AmCham’s Legal Committee and focused on EU Competition Policy & Big Tech, featuring speakers from De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, Meta, and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets.

The program was kicked off by Bart de Rijke, Partner in De Brauw’s Competition Practice, who focused on a number of recent developments, including enforcement trends, convergence with privacy and consumer protection, the European Commission’s approach to ‘under the radar’ acquisitions and the Digital Markets Act. Michiel Denkers, Director Competition at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) discussed the regulator's perspective on the topic and Edo Haveman, Head of Public Policy Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg at Meta, shared a private sector point of view.

AmCham expresses its sincere gratitude to the speakers Bart de Rijke (De Brauw), Michiel Denkers (ACM), and Edo Haveman (Meta) for their expertise on the topic and to Marko Kuipers (JLG / AmCham Legal Committee Chair) for moderating this year’s Legal Seminar.
