AmCham Members Meet for an Information Session on GDPR

Published:

April 10, 2018 - Today, over 50 AmCham Members met for an information session on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will directly apply as of May 25, 2018 after a two-year transition period. This information session was an initiative of AmCham’s People Platform and was hosted by Van Doorne.

GDPR replaces the patchwork quilt of 28 different EU Member States' laws with a single, unifying data protection law. GDPR was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens' data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy. GDPR will have significant impact on businesses, also from an HR perspective.

In this information session, Elisabeth Thole and Els de Wind, both Partners at Van Doorne and leading Van Doorne's Privacy and Employment Teams, summarized what GDPR is all about and elaborated on the impact this will have on HR. Elisabeth Thole and Els de Wind spoke about the arrangements companies should have in place and shared a couple of useful tools.

Our sincere thanks to Elisabeth Thole and Els de Wind for hosting us today!
