On September 13 (International Chocolate Day!) AmCham's young professionals visited the Netherlands' most popular chocolate company: Tony's Chocolonely, the chocolate brand with a story. Shocked by the child slavery practices on cocoa farms in West Africa, Dutch journalist Teun van de Keuken decided the time had come to produce 100% slave-free chocolate. In November 2005, the first Tony's Chocolonely bar was born – fairtrade, but not slave-free. Since that day, Tony’s is on a mission for a world with 100% slave-free chocolate and while doing so, the brand is successfully conquering the market, both in the Netherlands and in the USA. Ynzo van Zanten, Tony's Choco Evangelist, shared the company's inspiring story, its ways of working and his views on sustainable capitalism. The goodie bag with two Tony's Chocolonely bars was obviously one of the highlights of the event. We thank Tony's team for the hospitality!
