On June 2, AmCham hosted an event for its Legal Community, "AI in the Legal Sector". As AI integration in the workforce rises, legal departments must navigate not only how to manage risk and adhere to a variety of legal structures, but also how to incorporate AI into regular work. Attendees heard from two experts, Jurriaan Jansen, Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, and Hans Albers, Director Legal Managing Consultant at Deloitte. To kick off the session, Jurriaan discussed different regulatory frameworks across China, the EU, and the U.S., as well as the risk levels of AI in legal work. Hans spoke about a recent Deloitte survey that explored how large law firms are using AI in their workplace. He stressed that legal teams are under pressure to change from multiple angles, and both AI and tech play a role in shaping those shifts. After the presentations, the legal community present were able to ask questions and discuss their own perspectives amongst one another.
