On June 9, AmCham organized in collaboration with PwC a session on CSRD: where Should CFOs and CSOs Begin? The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will go into effect per 2024 for large public interest entities with more than 500 FTEs. In 2025 and 2026, other categories of (large) companies and listed SMEs will be obliged to report.
Our speakers focused on the struggle that C-suites encounter: where to start with that enormous task ahead? PwC took this question as the starting point for session. Our experts talked about what the CSRD is and when it will be effective, and gave insights on how to begin an effective CSRD implementation by (1) raising awareness at management level in Europe and in the U.S., (2) connecting with all relevant (staff) teams, (3) understanding the company's broader ESG initiatives and broader ESG reporting landscape, (4) discussing with your auditor and (5) working on the scoping and materiality.
The event closed with a lunch where guests had the opportunity to connect with each other.
AmCham cordially thanks Ellen McCready, Bart Kruijssen, Marieke de Wal, Lex Huis in het Veld and Sebastiaan Nijhuis for their insights. All speakers work in different roles and with different expertises within the ESG and Sustainability advisory and reporting division of PwC.
