On September 26, AmCham hosted an intimate discussion, “Culture, Talent, and Pressure: How CHROs are Responding Across the Atlantic” in partnership with Korn Ferry. Teun Hermsen, Global Head of Talent at McKinsey & Company, Cristina Monterio, CHRO at ASML, and Natalia Wallenberg, CHRO and Executive Committee Member at Ahold Delhaize, formed a panel to discuss rising difficulties, polarization, and what actions enable a workplace to remain resilient through it all.
The event panelists shared their responses to evolving societal and legal pressures, and how they balance one global company culture with local legitimacy. They all emphasized that this requires leadership and a willingness to keep defining what values stand for in action. They stressed the importance of continual reflection, especially on whether a company’s policies encapsulate the world today or if they need modernization. The overarching consensus of the panel was that leadership is not about avoiding difficult topics, but about creating the conditions for constructive, respectful, and clear dialogue.
