The sentiment around sustainability has shifted in the market, but remains a significant reporting requirement and investment area in the Netherlands. As legislation in the EU continues to develop, companies are expected to stay on top of the changes. On March 13, AmCham hosted an event to dive deep into some of the largest reporting requirements, the EU Sustainability Omnibus, CSRD, and CSDDD, as well as geopolitical risks impacting companies.
With a highly complex regulatory and geopolitical environment, companies that proactively integrate sustainability and geopolitics into their business strategies are better positioned to protect value and drive profitable growth. After an introduction from Sebastiaan Nijhuis, PwC Strategy & Transformation Leader, PwC experts Saskia Vos, Director ESG Strategy & Reporting, and Anna Bulzomi, Director Strategy & Transformation, delved into the changes that have already occurred in the EU Omnibus and CSRD that companies need to be aware of. In the second presentation of the event, Jan-Anthonie Hengst, Manager Geopolitical Risk at PwC, explained CSDDD and how organizations can implement due diligence in their policies, risk response, and reporting to be ready for geopolitical developments. He emphasized the importance of analysis not only in identifying risk but in creating business opportunities. AmCham Members were able to ask questions and learn from one another through the presentations, roundtable discussions, and a networking lunch.
