On Thursday September 27, AmCham members were invited at the offices of NautaDutilh in Amsterdam for AmCham's annual Legal Seminar 2018. The event, initiated by the Legal Committee, addressed the opportunities, responsibilities and liabilities of legal tech & data security.

People in the legal sector all know that the sector is experiencing exciting times. Lawyers need to constantly challenge themselves to deliver their services in an efficient and innovative way. Innovation and best delivery partner Mark-Jan Arends of Clifford Chance talked about Clifford Chance's refocused global innovation strategy and future expectations.

Data breaches and other issues concerning cyber security are front and center in today's environment in terms of business risks. Cyber security is not something that can be left to IT staff only. Rather, every business needs to address cyber security in terms of awareness, control and culture. Frans Overkleeft and Xander van Leeuwen of NautaDutilh presented the main themes and certain best practices on the basis of real life examples from the business world.

The afternoon was concluded with an interactive panel discussion. The panel consisted of Mike Brown - Director EMEA at Lighthouse Global, Michèle Klaassen - General Counsel at PGGM IM and Ivo van Wijk, Deputy Head of Group Affairs at ABN AMRO.

AmCham would like to thank Clifford Chance & NautaDutilh for their support in hosting and organizing this event.
