Private Tour Dutch Parliament - An Exclusive Look Behind The Scenes of Dutch Politics

Published:

On February 8, AmCham members were welcomed at the Dutch House of Representatives for an exlcusive look behind the scenes of Dutch politics. Over 35 members participated in this private tour through the Dutch parliament. The tour started with a meet & greet with Member of Parliament Jan Middendorp. As a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie) Jan has been an MP since March 23, 2017. He is currently spokesperson for several issues including; Government & Digitization, (E)Identity and Border Regions. The VVD is a fiscal conservative liberal party that is currently the largest party in both the House and the Senate, and that leads a coalition government with CDA, D66 and CU. Prior to being elected into Parliament in 2017, Jan was a corporate banker at ABN AMRO, Rothschild and SNS Bank.

As part of our Advocacy work, AmCham is engaged in an ongoing dialogue with Ministries and Members of Parliament to promote the interests of our Members. AmCham is considered an important discussion partner for policy makers in The Hague. We are therefore very pleased that we can offer our members the exclusive opportunity to look behind the scenes of Dutch politics. We would like to thank MP Jan Middendorp for the great introduction, and his personal assistant Veerle Voermans for the interesting tour.
