Robotics on the Workfloor – Are You Ready?

Published:

On June 17, AmCham hosted an event centred on robotics on the work floor. We were thrilled to have many industry experts share the different ways robotics are being implemented across industries. The event began with Denis Niezgoda, Chief Commercial Officer at Locus Robotics, who discussed the evolution of robotics and the work Locus Robotics does. Following his talk, Jan-Willem de Jong, Head of Innovation and Digitalization at DHL Supply Chain MLEMEA, discussed how DHL brings robotics and automation to the supply chain, and Hugo van Rooijen, Manager Government Affairs Norther Europe at Stryker, talked about the uses of robotics in healthcare, specifically in regards to Stryker’s surgery robot Mako. Dr. Oscar Mendez Maldonado, Head of AI & Data Science at Locus Robotics and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Surrey, explained how AI impacts robotics and discussed the characteristics organizations need to prioritize in order to successfully integrate AI and robotics into their systems.

For sustained positive results, robotic implementation in the workforce needs to be holistic. Increasing the role of technology on the work floor is about finding elements of different operations that would benefit from robotics, and ensuring that it both improves and functions in an organization’s system as a whole. This means recognizing the importance of collaboration and knowledge from employees and experts when implementing. Robotics in the workforce has incredible potential and, through comprehensive approaches, is already transforming the way we work today.
