To celebrate Diversity Day in the Netherlands, AmCham’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee hosted a lunch webinar on October 3 to have a personal conversation with our contributors about their unique life journey and perspective.
In analogy with the concept of the ‘Human Library’, we facilitated a series of conversations designed to connect on a personal level, challenge stereotypes, and offer a place to learn from the unique perspective of others. Discussions covered the following dimensions of diversity: mental and physical abilities, age-related diversity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and race and ethnicity. During the session, the participants were divided into breakout rooms to create a more intimate and informal environment for the ‘Human Books’ to narrate their story and engage in dialogue with participants. Throughout the session, participants were given guiding questions to reflect on the stories they heard and carry with them valuable learnings from the session.
