Balancing Strategy, Regulation, and Talent Expectations in a Changing Workforce

On November 5, AmCham and its People Committee hosted an event for HR professionals focused on exploring the tension between legislation, company strategies, and what talent wants. We welcomed five speakers for the event Petra Krom-Verdegaal, Senior Policy Officer and Directorate of Labor Relations at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, Christiaan Schakel, Program Manager and Deputy Head Department of Labor Relations for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, Maaike Noorman, OneHR Netherlands and HR Head R&D Communicable Diseases for Johnson & Johnson, Margo Geerts, Head of HR for Google Netherlands, and Sjors Van Der Zee, Partner and Office Lead Amsterdam for Bain & Company.

To begin the event, Sjors Van Der Zee set the scene by explaining the evolving labor market, emphasizing what talent is looking for across different generations, and sharing what different actors can do to create a future-proof, people-focused agenda. Afterwards, Christiaan Schakel dove into the Pay Transparency Directive, and Petra Krom-Verdegaal explained the latest updates with the Non-Compete Clause in the Netherlands. To close out the informative session, panellists Maaike Noorman, Margo Geerts, and Sjors Van Der Zee shared their own experiences and took questions from AmCham Members. The event concluded with a networking lunch for all guests.
